I had a good effect of the ART the first months, but then my progress plateaued and didn’t go further. It has been difficult to use the Accelerator with only few negative feelings regarding my MCS reactions. Then I got the idea about doing the Soften and Flow while being exposed to some perfume and at the same time smile, holding my chin slightly up and doing the health anchor. I thought thatwould help my Amygdala to realize that perfume is not a danger to my body.
I have done it in relaxed situations (it’s not possible in shops etc, where it’s impossible to relax and feel comfortable and concentrated for 20 minutes – and the fear of being driven away in a straitjacket.
I have done it at home with a piece of perfumed cloth, that I placed in front of me, and in the train, where I could sit with closed eyes and my MP3 player with the Soften and Flow whilst being exposed to the perfume from the other passengers (they would think that I was enjoying some nice music I had to smile at). The last 6 weeks I have focused on this ” homemade Soften & Flow with exposure ” and I’m now able to confront the worst fabric softener in town this way.
It seems to be a good way to retrain the amygdala. I guess it’s a tool one can use if one gets stuck in the progress when the brain is partly retrained, but not from the beginning of the retraining – B. Nielsen, Denmark
