Pressure Cooking: Good Idea or Not?

Pressure Cooking: Good Idea or Not?

Using a pressure cooker can be quite an exciting operation, or it was when I had one many years ago. Steam hissed out of the valve, and you had to be careful how to open the pan, by making sure the valve was opened first and the pressure (with lots of steam) allowed out.

My previous life (before I found the Gupta programme) was full of pressure, both self-inflicted and inflicted on me by external factors and/or people. I wasn’t aware of the danger: risk of scalding by steam, explosion etc.

Then I conked out, after becoming ill with ‘flu’ (or flu-like symptoms) more and more often in the years leading up to the millennium. My millennium bug hit me in November 2000. I was more or less bedridden, housebound except for essential outings. I tried to live within my not very comfortable comfort zone.

But I kept on thinking ‘I must go shopping for food’, ‘I have to walk with my dog’, etc. instead of ‘I could order food to be delivered each week’ and ‘I could drive to a local wood car park and sit watching her run around’, etc.

So I continued to live under pressure, self-inflicted.

Then there were those ‘friends’ who said ‘you should make your self walk more, you’ll not get better otherwise’, and one of the ‘specialists’ I saw actually said seriously to me ‘If you can walk a mile one day you should walk 2 miles the next.’ This to someone who could walk a few yards, who wall crawled around her house (and to his appointments.)

Pressurising words:

must
have to
should
ought to
need to
……

BAN them!
We are not cooking food under high-pressure conditions. Our health is in danger of injury from the pressure not being released under controlled and very gentle conditions.

ALLOW under certain exceptions:

I need:

Air
Water
Food
(probably in that order of importance, just to survive.)

I’m more comfortable with:

Shelter (is quite handy, and can be fairly necessary in some climates!)
Clothing (no comments please!)

I would like:

Family and friends
Fun
Joy
Chocolate
……..
and so on

Getting rid of the pressurising words (in my thoughts, speech and in my writing) was a huge factor in my full recovery from CFS, Fibromyalgia, MCS, food/noise/light sensitivities etc. as doing so helped me relax and allow the Gupta techniques to work.

It is a serene way to live. Even when life events hit me hard and unexpectedly I seem to stay calm, without trying to.

No pressure.
Doesn’t mean I don’t have wishes, desires etc.,
It doesn’t stop me from trying to help others (while avoiding damaging myself.)
It doesn’t stop me from feeling grief at appropriate times.

It does mean I live a normal life with joy, sadness, exciting times, quiet times and so on.
No pressure has given me serenity.

Margaret Cory

Having been forced to stop working aged 53 due to CFS, I was later diagnosed with Fibromyalgia as well. (With the added challenges of hypersensitivity to chemicals, smells, various foodstuffs, bright light, noise, etc.)

10 years later I found the Gupta Program and started my recovery. Wanting to pay back some small part of what I owe the Gupta Program I later volunteered to be a moderator in the Facebook Gupta Forum.
