Many People Contact Us About Other Chronic Conditions

Written by Clinic Director, Ashok Gupta MA(Cantab), MSc

I used to suffer from ME/CFS, so I can relate to having a chronic condition. I recovered fully using my own techniques, and since then, hundreds of people across the world have managed to get themselves better by using the Gupta Program.

There are many Chronic Conditions which we treat at our clinic that have crossovers with illnesses such as ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia and MCS. If you have had your conditions fully checked-out by your medical doctor, but still they are not able to help, you may be suffering from what I term a "Neuro-Immune Conditioned Syndrome (NIC)."

What May Cause Chronic Conditions?

The Amygdala and Insula parts of the brain are responsible for the “fight or flight” response, or the stress response. It is also known as the response of the sympathetic nervous system to threats.

It seems that this part of the brain gets stuck in a chronic state of hyper-arousal, quickly using up all the body’s store of energy.  It also causes lots of secondary issues which contribute to a whole host of symptoms in the body such as brain fog, difficulty concentrating, muscle pain, and exhaustion.

Muscular Fatigue & Pain, Aching Joints & Tender Points

The stress response is sometimes known as the “fight, flight or freeze” response. These responses, including excessive adrenaline, keep the muscles tense, and are only designed to be triggered for minutes at a time.

Relaxed muscles are in a state called tone, which is a state balanced between relaxation and contraction. Prolonged tension in muscles upsets tone and allows the chemicals of fatigue (e.g., lactic acid) to temporarily accumulate and disperse, causing aches and pain. Prolonged tension is initiated and maintained by the stress response, as the muscles are primed for reaction to dangerous stimuli. This is why you may suffer from aching limbs that seem to feel heavy and drag, but there may be nothing actually physically wrong with the muscles.

A few patients have found that magnesium supplements tend to help muscle tension. This is because magnesium acts as a muscle relaxant, and can be found in green leafy vegetables as well.

Autonomic Dysfunction: e.g., Temperature, Sweating, Blood Pressure Problems

The amygdala and insula send direct signals to the autonomic nervous system, which co-ordinates many bodily responses including temperature and blood pressure. Therefore, abnormalities in autonomic function can be directly attributable to chronic stimulation by the amygdala. Anxiety is well known to cause sweating, and even temperature changes.

Some patients may become “orthostatically intolerant”, e.g., they have low blood pressure when they stand up, as tested by the tilt table test. This may be because of excessive pooling of blood in the legs, as the autonomic nervous system constricts blood vessels in the body, except in the limbs, so that a person can run away from dangers. This may cause problems when standing up, like dizziness, as well as reduced blood flow to the head.

Latent Virus Reactivation/High Viral Titres

If the immune system is inappropriately retriggered, latent opportunistic viruses can take hold. Furthermore, triggering of the stress system is known to reduce the effectiveness of the immune system, thereby allowing opportunistic viruses to flourish, causing further symptoms. Recently, Professor Garth Nicolson showed that there were similar levels of multiple, systemic bacterial and viral infections in ME/CFS patients as there were in people with autism. Autism is a disorder where sustained amygdala hyperarousal is accepted as a model for partly explaining the disorder.

Visual Disturbances

The delicate muscles which accommodate the lens of the eye are also affected by muscular fatigue, so that vision may be blurred, especially when looking near-to-far and vice versa. Eye fatigue also occurs because, when the fight or flight system is initiated, the vision sharpens and the eyelids retract so that the eyes can focus better on the source of the danger.

You Deserve Health

Some professionals, and doctors might tell you that you cannot recover. This can make us feel dejected, pessimistic. Sometimes we can feel angry because some doctors just seem to dismiss what we are saying. Now luckily not all doctors are like this. When I was unwell, some doctors even thought I was just making it all up in my head. But of course, we all know this is a real physical condition.

I believe that we all have the capacity to heal ourselves from this condition. And this is my inspiration to you today. That however bad the condition feels, however isolating it may be, however down you might feel, you can recover from this condition and get your life back. Many before you have taken this path to health, and so can you.

This hypothesis serves as a potential unifying model for the various observations in patients.

Really helped with my recovery

...

When I started the Programme I had not long been diagnosed with post-viral fatigue following a heart infection. I didn't even have the energy to sit up but was determined to overcome the illness before it became long term. Found the Gupta Programme after some desperate googling for any info that would help and felt like I had nothing to lose. I noticed the difference almost immediately and from then on made a gradual recovery, noticing little improvements every day. After 3 months I was back at work and to most of my normal activities. After 6 months I was commuting to work by bike every day, climbing mountains and really enjoying every day of my health. I have now made lasting changes to my lifestyle and hope that these will help keep me well.

...

I don't know how things would have gone without the Gupta Programme but I can't imagine that my recovery would have been as fast or as complete.

What Are the Chances I Can Recover?

I’ve created The Gupta Program to be a complete healing system for these conditions. And I call these conditions “Neuro-Immune Conditioned Syndromes” or NICS. These include ME, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Electrical Hypersensitivity, Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, MCAS as well as many other related conditions. And this program is based on my last 20 years of my research and working with thousands of patients all over the world.

Now I know that it can be hard sometimes to know where to turn when you’ve been diagnosed with this condition. I also went from doctor to doctor trying to get an explanation. And some of the patient forums can be very negative about recovery. I think this is just because they can be skewed towards people who haven’t managed to get better yet.

But the good news is that in fact, many people do recover, they do get better and I truly believe that you can get better too.

Jacqueline's success story

Jacqueline

I would like to thank you for your 30-day program (www.themeaningoflife.tv). I want you to know how much good you have done for me.

...

I’m from the south of Belgium, I speak French but I have been living in Maine in the United States since 2001.

...

First of all, the Meaning of Life has helped me overcome my state of deep anxiety after my son Francois had a subarachnoid hemorrhage in October 2014. Francois was 22 when this happened. Fortunately, he is doing very well now. But at that time, even though my son had survived? and had only mild impairments, I was in distress. I could not understand why. I started to see a psychologist in December 2014 and I discovered your program in February 2015. The Meaning of Life Experiment gave me the tools to move forward and accelerate the work I was doing with my psychologist. I’m doing so well now. I’m much happier and I have also found my life purpose. I didn’t really change what I’m was doing but I have recognized and value the importance of my different roles. I have also changed my mindset of how I approach my work. First, I’m a devoted mother of 3 young men, Francois 24, Maxim 19 and Sebastian 16. Secondly, I teach French over the phone and I value my relationship with my students and I care deeply for them. Thirdly, I’m helping my husband with his nonprofit organisation, which is helping people in need around the world to access healthy food by helping to fund food gardens.

...

Secondly, The Meaning of Life and the Gupta Program have helped me with Hashimoto disease. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto in 2013. I started to take Ltyroxine but after a year my symptoms were worse than before and I had even more problems. In June 2014, I stopped my medication and I became gluten-free. I also consulted a functional medicine doctor who helped me to take different complements to restore my gut and support my thyroid gland. Since then, I have been doing blood tests regularly to check on the evolution of the disease. In spring 2015, I still had a lot of symptoms, fatigue, cramps in my legs, anxiety,… and this is when I started the Meaning of Life Experiment. I still remember the first time I did a meditation, right way it calmed me and helped my muscles to relax. The stop, stop, stop strategy helped me to deal with my physical symptoms (cramps in my legs) and my negative thinking (negative scenarios). The Gupta Program helped me to understand how my brain works and the importance of reducing my stress level. Today, my blood tests? are great, I don’t feel sick anymore!

...

So Ashok, I can’t thank you enough for helping me to get my physical and mental health back. I’m happier, healthier than before. This year, I’m going to be 50 but I really feel 35! I can run again! I run 3 times per week and I walk 10000 steps every day

How Can I Assist My Recovery?

Our highly successful and well known international Workshops, Home Study courses and Webinar series, have helped hundreds of people all over the world recover from ME/CFS.

gupta-program-screenshots

This brain retraining program has inspiration drawn from many areas of coaching and therapy, including NLP, Meditation, Timeline Therapy, Breathwork, Parts therapy, Visualisation, Inner-Child work, Holistic Health Practises and many more. We fit these tools under the banner of "Amygdala and Insula Retraining", or AIR Techniques.

The treatment involves a series of brain retraining exercises designed to “retrain the Amygdala & Insula” and other parts of the brain that are stuck in a state of hyper-arousal. The brain is not fixed in its responses, it can be rewired. Neuroscientists call this “Neuroplasticity” and it is one of the hottest topics in science at the moment.

In addition, we couple these techniques together with holistic health practises such as Pacing, Sleep, Nutrition, Mindfulness, Relaxation etc to honour the whole mind. body and soul within the journey to health and happiness.

Our program is friendly, gentle, customisable and expert-designed & delivered for those with chronic illness.

Buy It, Try It, Apply It. You’re Backed By Our Money Back Guarantee

It really works!

Great programme that (finally!) focusses on and has an explanation for all the different symptoms of ME/CFS

...

After 17 yrs of having ME (including POTS and post-exertional malaise), I'm on my way to full recovery!

...

It's not Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and it does believe the physical symptoms are real (so stop pushing yourself and making yourself worse). It just teaches you how to heal your body by doing all these different exercises.

...

Very positive, eternally grateful and I do recommend it to everyone.

...
